You cannot go wrong when Altima Group who is also behind Nanny’s Pavillion opened a cafe. Porto Bistreau focuses on Western food, with coffee sourced by Turning Point. The menu is very extensive in both food and drink options.
Banana Mozzarella Hot Chocolate IDR 39k
I ordered the Banana Mozzarella Hot Chocolate, one of the self classified non-coffee items on the menu. The combination of chocolate, banana and mozzarella might sound quite strange, but it actually tasted delicious. The hot chocolate by itself was great, thick and not too creamy chocolate. The mozzarrella was not mixed into the hot chocolate, but added to the top. It was chewy, leaving the drink with a salty taste after. Chocolate and cheese is definitely the food combination you need to try.
Aglio Olio IDR 59k
The Aglio Olio was a traditional garlic spaghetti with gold olive oil extra virgin from Italy, roasted garlic, parsley and chilly flake. The dish was simple and there was nothing special about it. It also lacked a bit of seasoning. Just a bit of salt and parmesan cheese would be fine. For a complete Aglio Olio, you can choose among bacon, chicken and tuna for an additional IDR 15k. The texture of the pasta however was nice.
Broccoli Dublin IDR 59k
The standout dish for me is the Broccoli Dublin. It was baked fresh brocolli with baby potatoes, creamy cheese and melting cheddar. The creamy cheese and melting cheddar might sound overwhelming, but it was actually not. The broccoli was cooked well and still crunchy. So yummy and comforting.
Porto Bistreau is a good option for brunch or just a casual dining in West Jakarta. I also found the service to be friendly and warm. It is definitely a good cafe with high quality ingredients, beautiful presentation and perfect portion sizes.
